The Individual Shareholders Observatory
The Individual Shareholders Observatory works to promote individual and employee share ownership in order to encourage the reorientation of French savings towards the national productive system, in a long-term perspective and to maintain decision-making centers in France.
There is now a gap between the negative – even caricatural – vision of the stock market, often perceived only as a place of speculation, and the desire of French people to contribute to the development of companies of all sizes in various forms (entrepreneurship, collaborative economy, crowdfunding, etc.).
The Individual Shareholders Observatory believes that French people’s desire to reconnect with the real economy and their growing interest in the emergence of responsible and ethical capitalism creates favorable conditions for the revival of individual and employee shareholding. This is the movement led by the European Commission, which, through several initiatives, has sought to encourage long-term shareholder engagement.
Holding an action means taking a close interest in « your » company, competitors, markets, the stock market, the economic situation, economic policies … It is a plunge into reality, an in vivo discovery of business world. In this perspective, the Individual Shareholders Observatory endeavors to promote shareholding for all (individuals and employees), by following a pedagogical approach and promoting the “meaning” of investment in actions.
This approach is part of a favorable context, marked by the PACTE law, which provides for measures favorable to individual and employee share ownership: creation of the youth PEA, simplification of the SME PEA, abolition of the social package on participation and on profit-sharing in certain companies, etc.
